Cozy Scarves - Chan Luu and Gucci

There's nothing I love more than cuddling on the couch with a book, a tea and a luxurious scarf to keep my neck warm.   I take my scarves to the beach to cover up from the sun, in the evening worn as a shawl or on a flight as a blanket.

My favorites at the moment are by Chan Luu.  They are large and light and made of soft silk and cashmere.  The colors are endless and make for excellent, timeless gifts.

I love a bargain!  I like window shopping and then seeing if I can get a better deal online by searching the product and style number.

My favorite online retailers usually have a great price matching policy.  The best I've found so far have been ShopBop, Nordstrom and RevolveClothing.    This works well if you find a bargain online but the retailer is out of your size.  One of these websites will match the price and send you the size you need.

Recently RevolveClothing has been making items over 50% off, final sale so I would check with ShopBop or Nordstrom first.   All three offer free shipping and free returns.  You can also check items you've already purchased as well as these sites offfer a 30 day price match guarantee.  Can't beat that!

Delicate Elegance - Wings Hawaii Jewelry

Last week I had the pleasure of shopping at a local Paia store, Wings Hawaii.  The store has been around for ten years and their items have been featured in many publications including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues.

They are committed to eco-friendly, unique jewelry and clothing.   They use reclaimed metals, make every item by hand and use non toxic dyes.

My first love was the Sundial Necklace.  I found the chain length interesting, it hits right below my neck, and the pendant beautiful.   It is molded from a shell found on Maui with a satellite silver chain and a Herkimer Quartz Crystal peeking out.

I absolutely love the two of these together.  I got them both in gold so I am waiting for them to be made for me.  The Triple Crystal Quartz is on a satellite chain while the Super 7 Quartz is on a wider more plain chain.

Blue Topaz Teardrop

I also got this long necklace with a mixture of plain chain and satellite chain.  I love how it isn't symmetrical but yet really works.  I have been wearing this one non stop.  It is not available right now but keep checking, they update their items all the time.  The one on top is the Ammonite Necklace.

A good friend recently asked me if I knew of a good swimwear line that has elegant colors. The one I am currently into is Tori Praver.  She is a model turned designer with a great eye for luxurious fabrics and patterns.  The colors are beautiful and I love mismatching the separates.  They also feel nice on the skin and are not flimsy.

I just got a pair of awesome jeans in the mail from Shopbop.  They are nothing like jeans that you buy nowadays and I think that's a good thing.   They are from a company called NSF and take you back to the days when jeans were made of 100% cotton and looked like they've been worn for years.  The color is great with some distressing and paint splatter.  They are stiff and slightly high rise with a button closure.  The more you wear, the better they'll look. I am in love! There are a few sizes and styles on sale on Shopbop and they have some great tops as well.

Searching for the perfect belt

I recently saw a post by a local store, Mercantile Makawao, with the beautiful Ipo in a great belt.  The color is perfect, the buckle is simple and it is wide which is great for jeans.  I searched for hours trying to find it online and finally broke down and gave them a call. Turns out the belt is vintage from a company called "Old Stud".   They are an LA brand specializing in vintage belts with no online store I've found.  Waiting to see if I can order this beauty, but meanwhile I've found some awesome belts.

It's almost hurricane time here on Maui and I'm watching it all unfold while I'm shopping :).  I saw an old gorgeous photo of my favorite style icon, Kate Moss.  She looks flawless as usual and has a beautiful top on.  I searched and I've found one that is pretty close.  Love Free People for their style!

Kimonos - Arnhem Clothing!

Last month I was in New York and saw a girl in the most gorgeous kimono.  It had a beautiful fabric and print and a lot of body as she walked.   I didn't know if this style would work for me but I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect one, and I've found it!  I stumbled upon an awesome Australian brand called Arnhem Clothing.  They have beautiful prints and fabrics and some absolutely stunning kimonos.  I've worn my to dinner as well as the beach.  It keeps you warm in the evening and protected from the sun during the day.  They wear easy and drape beautifully.  Nothing can beat that!

Favorite Summer Boots - Isabel Marant and Rag & Bone

Summer is here and I am still obsessed with boots!  I love all leathers and colors and only require for them to look great and be extremely comfortable.    They make me wish for cooler nights and travels to Europe so I can wear them daily.  I wear them with pretty dresses, skinny jeans and shorts.  I've even worn my Isabel Marants salsa dancing, the soft sole was perfect for turns.

Here are some of my favorite pairs which I choose over and over again.  They wear well and look great.

My first pair of Isabel Marants was worn to shreds.  They have a French elegance that other brands can only hope to portray.  They run a bit small.

The Perfect Pair of Jeans - AG Legging Ankle Jeans

Back in the day, jeans were a $50 purchase and not too many styles to choose from.  I remember purchasing boot cuts and sewing in fabric to make them serious bell bottoms.  They weren't that comfortable and always too short for a girl my height.  I would even let out the stitch on the bottom so they would be longer.

Recently I had a good friend visit me and she was wearing a fabulous pair of jeans.  I immediately recognized the brand and bought myself a pair.  What I didn't know, was that I'd be wearing those jeans for nearly two weeks, non stop and without washing which is usually a big deal for me.  Not because I think they are dirty but because they always start to sag on the butt, the crotch and the knees.  I give them a good wash to get them back to normal state and two wears later, wash again.

This pair was different.  They fit perfectly and extremely comfortable right from the beginning and barely stretched at all as I wore them.  Every time they looked amazing and I just found myself reaching for them over and over again.  The hole on the knee never ripped but stretched nicely when I sat down.  Any flaws?  None that I've found.  They are flattering, stretchy and very comfortable.  I will be selling my other jeans on Ebay.  I am in between sizes so I sized down.
